Yoga & Dive Immersion

What Yoga means to me is living a life in a non violence way to immerse with life itself and become part of the unity.

Diving for me personally seen as essential yogic practice,
Not to chase but to embrace,
Not to hate but to love every self,
Not to fight but to trust the one at last.

योगश्चित्तवृत्तिनिरोधः ॥२॥
yogaś-citta-vr̥tti-nirodhaḥ ॥2॥

When you are in a state of yoga all misconceptions (vrittis) that can exist in the mutable aspect of human beings (chitta) disappear. ||2||

yogaḥ = (nom. sg. m. from yoga) yoga. The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit root yuj,
which means “the union”, “to join” or “to yoke”.
citta = (iic.) all that is mutable in human beings; thoughts
vr̥tti = (iic.) thought-wave; mental modification; mental whirlpool; a ripple in the chitta. A vritti alters perception like a misconception, or as waves on the surface of a pond obscure or distort our view of the bottom.
nirodhaḥ = (nom. sg. m. from nirodha) to find tranquility; to regulate

A Letter from Amaryllis

lilyMy dear human,
When you tell me that you envy me, how beautiful and perfect I am,
How I live a perfect life among the whispering water and winds,
I want you to take a look closer at me,
See what has become part of me,
Every curve, shade, rip..
Just watch… and observe..
With your eyes…
And now close your eyes,
And see me with your heart,
Do you see that beauty?
Do you feel that envy?
Do you notice me?
Am I fit into your definition of beauty with your eyes, open or close?
What story do I tell you?
And if you ever wonder, what makes you notice that story in you?

— at Bogor Cibedug Ciawi.

Love, Life, and Dive.

Just in time when I asked myself what was it like to be in love..

Then life gifted me :

a picture to see everytime I close my eyes,
the feel when the ocean hug you tight,
the bubbles from the breathing singing a song,
a trust to people you just met to take care each other safely,
the sight of many wonders,
time to remember,
Salts that heals,
And a heart to feel.

How To Read Through People in LinkedIn

This post is not about reading what is stated in the profile. And it is not teaching you how to hack into one’s profile – for heaven’s sake even if I could, I wouldn’t tell you that :D

Nope, this is also not about getting clients from LinkedIn or landing a new job. You can find hundreds if not thousands of those if you google them. But it is about reading them before you hire them or investing on them.

What this post will give you is to identify a person’s personality and behavior – and to see how good they are with their self awareness and social skills are through their chosen words and behavior and also through the evidences & patterns left in their accounts.

#1 Peek into Recommendation; Dont waste time to Skill Endorsements (Sorry LinkedIn!)

Skip endorsements. It’s too easy to give it then it would make this not credible at all. Instead, Recommendation takes more effort from the network to post about someone. Rules in credible communications, it is more trustworthy when it doesn’t comes from your mouth. You can claim anything you are, but if other people says the other way around then you know which one they will take into accounts. However, as you learn whom to listen, here are few things to take into account when checking Recommendations:

  1. Look who’s talking. Check the credibility of the people, do they newly created account to then recommend? or do they have years of experiences supported by evidence and other recommendations. Are they credible enough to provide a review of this person based on their skillsets? Do people as well recommend how they trust this person?
  2. Look at years or time-frame. Check if the time-frame given in recommendation shows consistency behavior of a person from time to time. Behavior is not easily changed and once it is become the patterns in a person then it becomes a definite quality as well mightlikely showing values. One of the common shows is how this person shows positivism, can do attitutdes, and resilience. You may found certain traits that fits your needs.
  3. Look at specific evidence. Particular time and situation frame given as in ‘when we were working on…’ or ‘manage to handle our customer to a higher level..’ This reveals the quality shown
  4. Look at inconsistency. Yes inconsistency in spelling – chosen words – passive/active – of recommendation between one and another reveals the authenticity of the recommender. This will avoid any chance that the recommender just post based on request. Close your eyes after you read them and see if those were unique recommendation specially made for this person.
  5. Look at the relationship when it happens. Yes, who was this person who recommend in what role to the one who are being recommended. And when was this recommendation given. I respect my boss that he asked me recommendation when he moved and as well give me recommendation after we have no working relationship. Cause that’s the ones unbiased.
  6. Ignore templates or general reco without specific details given. If any recommender using templates from LinkedIn for sure it’s not worth to look at. And I would even consider questioning why would a person accept such recommendations.

#2 Check on connections.

Yes, you are at the average of 5 person closest to you! sorry but that’ the fact. People surrounds this person as connections reveals the interest and focus of this person. Check their connections vs the area that they claimed they are an expert in.

If you want to check on your own profile, you can see those venn diagrams showing where your area of expertise is. And see if you are in the right pool of people as where you want to be, or you are still transitioning.

#3 Check on their profile

You might go figure this already. But here’s some cheatsheets available on utilizing LinkedIn properly. What they might also know or dont when they do their linkedin profile will provide you a good basic checklist on how a person convey about themselves. Though you need to note that some great people are not into linkedin, so you might as well crosscheck and not only do sole investigation based on 1 social media only. Do your homework. Callibrate.

I do wonder if you can add up to these lists, based on your experiences, what surprising things you found from someone through their linkedin? and what would be your screening criteria like ?

So I have these questions quite often since I pursue my Independent Professional Life and coming up with Tech – Teach – Touch. Some are having problem digesting the fact that I do things and not only one, and moreover to consciously choose the life that is far of what our parents told us about security. From a question of What makes your clients pay you well, to What are you, really? :-)

For the purpose of efficiency, I choose to write it here. I would say people would prefer to go and check this than to my personal website. That’s the beauty of social media ;-)

To simplify, here’s 3 cases I do most :

IF you’re a CEO or business owner and believe that you hired the best people that have huge potentiality yet somehow they’re not in the same frequency as yours ? you feel the itch to stretch and wanting them to as well have their own legacy.

This is the part where I chip in to help to orchestrate the team and their delivery,  coaching them to manifest great idea to exceptional deliveries and growing their selves in the journey through provoking thoughts, achievable challenges, and a hand for them to reach out at ease. Luckily as well, I have one of the most wanted skill in the market — you can aim the project and people in one shot ;-)

IF you’re a career woman and you’re familiar with the feeling of wanting to serve best in whatever you do at the same time cant help feeling guilty being a working mom or a daughter. Wanting freedom for self but at the same time needing safety and peacefulness.

This is the part where I help you to get that peace within you, in whatever decision you have made in your life. Letting you see how you best function in both professional and personal life. Letting you hear your inner voice saying, You Can and You Deserve your achievements in life. And to experience this through enjoyable activities, strengthening your steady ground so you will be able to take off higher and faster. And most importantly, be content with who you are :-) This moment is the most beautiful part being a Coach.

IF you realize that this is the time for you to step forward. You did what you have to do. You achieve excellence in professional life and in personal life. You have mentors and sponsors who helped you reach this position. You have best taken care people surrounds you, and asking self if you owe yourself the time for your own development that goes beyond trainings and retreats. You have an urge sense of helping others and paying forward. You think, it’s time to take another step, to uncover the infinite possibility.

This is the part where I do customer design to coach you to rejuvenate you life goals. Taking you to a movie where you have seen your life and the meaning in your life and letting you experience the new possibility to learn about your life the way you never learn before. As you learn more about yourself, you will find inspirations flowing into you as much as your contribution towards others. This is where I smile peacefully :-)

Enjoy today :-)

Questions to Ask Yourself Before Hiring a Coach

Out of many questions about what is Coaching? what is exactly am I doing as a Professional Coach ;-) and what can Coaches do for you?

I would encourage you to ask yourself below questions before you decide if you need to hire a coach. When needed you can put a scale in each question to get better clarity on your own answers.

Coach is not a magician and not a healing-shaman. Coaches can only help you as much as you want them to help you.  And yes, professional coaches have code of ethics (like any professional do – doctors, journalists, lawyers)  and extensive hours of learnings and practices. And last but not least — always trust your gut feel :-)

Enjoy the questioning and hope you learn more about yourself afterwards.

  1. Am I fulfilled? is there anything in my life that I can progress better ?
  2. Am I open enough to listen ?
  3. Am I really really wanting this so bad ? How badly I want this?
  4. Am I ready to create more focus in my life and business?
  5. Am I having the courage to raise hands and ask questions?
  6. Am I willing to take risks and try new things ?
  7. Am I ready to move forward ?

  12. Am I willing to stop self-defeating behaviors?

  14. Am I ready to start managing my time and money effectively?
  15. Am I willing to discover and change fears and beliefs that hold me back?
  16. Am I ready to accept responsibility for my success and happiness in life? as well as accepting my pain and tough times.
  17. Am I willing to do homework between my weekly coaching calls?
  18. Am I willing to make the time commitment necessary to make each coaching appointment, without distractions during the session?

The INTROVERT-claimed (Un)Secret Toolbox

I know if I told you here that I was an Introvert, that you might laugh at it. “Yea.. yea.. you like talking so much and you like to be on stage…Now you tell me you’re an introvert? for sure!”

What you did not know was that, I used to lost my voices in front on microphones (still do if you force me to sing), and I still do have small voices in class that someone need to tell me to speak louder cause they cant hear me. To some degree I enjoy being introvert and having no obligation to share my voice. At least at that what I thought..

I like to be on stage only for teaching not for showing, I like performing when it is the other way of saying in words. Well see how much I try to avoid speaking… I would rather do the work than telling people what they need to do. So much energy saved from my end.

I bring books everywhere even to dining table and family gathering ; and I merely growing up having a play time (I love books and love staying home). When I was 14, I faced a sort of weird question from my family asking if I have any friends and go out – then I realized that perhaps I should be going out and make friends. Then I go to my 1 and only friend and we read books at her place :-) And even when I was 20, I prefer to read my big giant communication lecture book at my boyfriend’s family gathering!

We enjoy time for ourselves, and that the beauty of being introvert is that we have a great excuse to just Be. But the fact that there’s both sides in each and every of us where we can be – by choice, consciously and subconsciously. And even Carl Jung himself who first introduce this concept says that people are more likely to be a combination of both, if there’s a person having only 1 side that it must be lunatic.

As Professional Coach, I deal with numbers of Introvert-claim clients who is trying to live in an Extrovert-claim world, where one’s performance is related to visibility and proximity that one can create with stakeholders. Ah well, honestly speaking this is our real and common world, because people is not commonly gifted with sixth sense to read mind :-)

But here are some resources that I normally share with my fellow introverts, that might be useful for you or your friends:

And how I personally deal with it ?

  1. If you really care you will. If it really matters to you to share you will find a way. And as the team leader at work, I have the obligation to ensure that the work and the team are being recognized because their career is also depend on their visibility. And their family is a great reason for me to help them to care a bit about their own career. So yes I will speak, because when the leader speak, it will amplifies. Ask yourself, ‘What is the need for you to speak? How important is it for you to connect with people you just met ?
  2. Practice, Practice, Practice. Yes, even an extrovert boss that I known of would still spare time to practice presentations and practice the speech. Don’t ask why they don’t practice in front of you. Ask why you should practice harder than those who claim to be natural extrovert. They choose to be practice as an Introvert ;-) And tell me, ‘How often would it takes for you to have a nice and comforting interaction with someone? How long have you have known your close peers or friends ?’
  3. Do what you most fear. Talk to whom you hardly talk. The thing about being an introvert is its comfort zone. It is just so comfort that you just want to stay there. But we live in an evolving world where change is the most constant thing to happen. So find your inner button and practice on facing your own fear. Ask yourself, ‘what if everything goes well? What the worst thing that you can do ? Can you still live with it ?’
  4. JUST DO. I really don’t like telling people what to do that one of my biggest mistake is taking any responsibility avails hoping that it will trigger others. This initiative of taking responsibility has taught me great thing, it is to not try and JUST DO. To park your fussy mind who tries to analyze people and situation and JUST DO. For God’s sake, if you have good intention then be firm with it. If you wanna do good, don’t think twice. Ask you self, ‘What stops you from doing it?’ and please not to answer being an introvert.
  5. Voice Matters. You never know if your story or even your life can help others. There’s a lot that we can learn from people experiences and people’s life, and many cases I found myself really grateful to be connected to people who opens up themselves, to be vulnerably open, and they make me feel that I am not alone. When we connect with others, we are also sending that message that you are not alone. Human is engineered with its needs for connection with others that will also impact your wellbeing — physically and emotionally. That is why you should ask yourself, ‘What is the message that is Life carry with you in your Life? And whom you should share that message ? What if the thing that you least consider, matters most to others? you can never tell unless you share.

And I would like to know how you cope with your Introversions and any relevant articles/resources that might help, you will never know who might Thankful to you :-)

Belajar Bersyukur.

Makna dibalik airmata,
Rasa dibalik hela nafas,
Logika dibalik kata-kata,
Cerita dibalik tawa,
Angan dibalik cinta,
Tujuan dibalik perjalanan,
Pemahaman dibalik perbedaan.

Saat lidahku kelu tak berucap
Saat lututku kaku tak bertekuk
Saat mulutku bisu tanpa sujud

Hanya satu yang mampu menyahut
menggapaiku tanpa perlu rasa tahu
tanpa syarat dan tanpa hasrat

tetap berjaga tak terusir..
tetap bertahan tak terusik..
tetap mencinta tak tergubris..
tetap berdoa tanpa menanti..
tetap tersenyum dengan hati..
tetap hidup diantara yang mati..

Tak ada lagi yang bisa terucap,
selain sujudku untukmu,
dalam setiap nafasku, aku bersyukur…

Belajar Bernafas.

Diantara sadar dan tak sadar,
Ada nadi yang bergetar,
Seiring nada terhantar,
Diantara udara yang terhampar.

Diantara ada dan tiada,
Hadir bait kehidupan,
yang terungkap tanpa ucapan,
dan berdetak dalam dekapan.

Dan aku pun mulai menghela,
mengatur hembusan diantara detak,
terhatur syukur tanpa suara,
